Innovation Zones provide an opportunity to work in close proximity with ASU staff, students and faculty, as well as with other high-profile industry leaders. Just like urban neighborhoods, each Innovation Zone has its own distinct personality, characteristics and amenities. We designed our Zones this way to ensure we can offer tenants a wide range of customizable options appropriate to size, industry and need.

Workiva

“It has been extremely fortunate for Workiva to be located at the ASU SkySong Innovation Center. From utilizing ASU’s conference and meeting space within SkySong for larger quarterly meetings, to hosting events in collaboration with ASU, it has been a terrific location. Michael Crow sits on Workiva’s Board of Directors, and our relationship with ASU has fostered some wonderful interns and hires! We’ve attended several great networking and recruiting opportunities through events held by other companies and by ASU that, being at SkySong, made it easy for us to participate in. Hosting our own events at SkySong has felt like it has drawn even more interest due to the technology-focused tenants in the Innovation Center. From WiCS, to SoDA, to BAP, we’ve worked with incredible students and faculty.”

Some things we’ve done with ASU:

  • Hosted Workiva Coding Challenge at SkySong for ASU students.
  • Given the Women in Computer Science (WiCS) group a tour.
  • Had Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) come in for a tour and panel discussion with our Professional Services (Financial Reporting) team.
  • Worked with ASU accounting professors to share more about what Workiva does and how we need their accounting students.
  • Workiva’s UX team hosted ASU students for an evening.

MECHnano

 “MECHnano has opened a world-leading nanotechnology lab in the ASU Poly Innovation District in order to be in close proximity to and engage with Arizona State University. Amazon Web Services (AWS)

The ASU Smart City Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) is a collaboration between ASU, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Greater Phoenix region. The CIC is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center, and is the hub for advancing the digital transformation of cities.  The CIC leverages Amazon’s Working Backwards methodology of starting with the customer, exploring problems and opportunities and then building prototypes with ASU student interns. Together, ASU and AWS are helping conserve water in Scottsdale and Durban South Africa, reducing homelessness in Arizona, improving citizen engagement in Phoenix, and much more.]
